None of us are immune from our relationship with God and prayer life becoming stagnant. It may be intentional because of hurts or disappointments. It may have happened because you did not invest the time into growing the relationship. You may have just become so busy that you didn't realize that you had drifted away God. It is kind of like marriage. We have to be intentional. Once you drift, how do you renew your prayer life and put the spark back in the relationship?
How God pursues us is kind of poetic and yet consistent. It meets the needs of all the people. Some people need to be romanced. Some people need a something predictable and dependability. Other people need other things. He is all of those things.
When you realize the relationship is not what you would like it to be anymore, go to Him. Tell God what you are feeling. Ask Him to reveal the reason if you don't already know. He is eager to restore the relationship and your life. He forgives and never holds the past over you. He releases you from His wrath if you ask for forgiveness.
God's love is unfailing. He shows that in how He established salvation. It can be uncomfortable because it sometimes reveals sin that we don't want to see. Once we face it with Him and repent, then we can have that peace that we all really want deep within.
Once the relationship is reestablished then the prayer life will be full of life again. Ask Him to protect you from returning back to your folly. Ask Him to keep you close. Be willing to make the changes that need to be made to show Him love and faithfulness that He shows you daily. Work for the life of righteousness and peace. He has prepared the way, you just have to follow.
