Why Have Thanksgiving?

 

    

    In the States Thanksgiving is a national holiday to celebrate people that had nothing in common coming together to help each other out.  It is a nice picture.   It leaves out why foreigners were in the country and what they did after.  However for that moment in history the picture is good, nice, and makes people feel safe.

    Thanksgiving should be more than that.  That moment in history shows that we can do anything if we try to work together.  However, the source of peace, goodness, and security is God.  He gave us angel armies, nature, and splendor in life.  He has all the power over the universe and beyond.  He is the one that we should be celebrating.  

    God is the creator of all things.  This Thanksgiving we should take a moment while driving to family or friends homes, sitting at the table eating a festive meal, resting after a full day to really appreciate all God has created.  Everything you look at He created or you have because He made it possible.  Every sound you hear and smell in the air is a gift.

    God created Heaven, our future home, and Earth, our current home.  Each is special and different.  Each has it purpose and hope.  He created people in all shapes, sizes, and color.  We all age differently.  We are all different and that is beautiful.  Put a variety of people together and it is like the beauty of a fall day.  That needs to be celebrated.  

    Why God created everything the way He did is beyond my comprehension, but the fact that He cared enough to give us diversity is amazing.  Even the Earth had different weather, scenery, and animal where people can find their place anywhere.  That is love.  His love is the strongest thing in this world.
