Honoring Wisdom could be read a couple of different ways. It could be read that you are to respect and uphold wisdom or wisdom is a form of honor. I think when it comes to Proverbs that both viewpoints are correct. It comes to the philosophy of what you get from the 28 verses in this chapter. You decide what honoring wisdom means to you.
Wise people are the people that receive true honor in life. Their honor may not be trophies, metals, or any tangible thing but it is respect. A fool on the other hand curses the wise while declaring themselves wise. Don't let a fool rile you up into acting foolishly yourself. Chose to act in a Christlike manner. You don't have to worry about the fool, they will hang themselves.
Quarrels are heated arguments that tend to be fueled by gossip. If you can quench the gossip, then the drama around you may cease to exist. Evil resides in the heart of a fool and they bring disaster wherever they go. Their speech gives them away. They may appear charming, but they are untrustworthy. Quenching gossip is not enough. You have to avoid the fool to avoid trouble.
Time reveals the content of the heart. It exposes the malicious heart of a fool. Step out of the way and they will dig their own grave. You can then cover it in stone and that will be the end of that hate. A fool desires to ruin the wise. It wont work because the wise and the fool both have a reputation that reflects who they are. A wise person speaks love and they bring in more love. They disperse joy and love to those around them.
