Yahweh Part 2

Yahweh (ya-way) or YHWH (Yahwey) is יהוה in Hebrew.  It is tetragrammaton which means four letters making a word.  It has been translated to Lord (Adonai) in the English speaking world.  It means "I Am Who I Am" ,"The Existing One", or "He Who Causes to Exist".  It appears over 6,200 times in the Bible.  It represents God's sovereignty, holiness, and presence.
Yahweh is the creator of heaven and earth.  He is your rock of security and deliverer.  He never changes.  He is always fighting for you.  He is your strength.  YHWH is the name that He gave Himself to get Moses' attention and connect with him in the way where Moses would hear Him.  It is a way that He can be known by His people.
David used the name YHWH to signify his complete trust in God and desire to be trusted.  It describes God as infinite love and grace revealed in His power.  It is a way to relate to God.  This name is not to be forgotten.  He is  God that keeps His word.  He is the God to love with all your heart, soul, and strength.
When you pray using the name Yahweh you are submitting to God's authority while having gratitude for your creation.  It is the name you call out when you are seeking to be in God's presence.  Since God gave Himself this name it is personal.  You are approaching Him in an intimate and familiar way.  It is not formal, but it is respectful.  This name is sacred, so your prayer is sacred.

Exodus 3:14-15, 6:2-5, Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Psalm 9:7-10, 105:1-6, 138, Isaiah 42:8-9, 45:1-7, & Jeremiah 23:16-24
