Relief

No one likes the trials or the pain of life.  However, over time you get used to them.  The ones that last over time just become a part of you.  When the relief comes it can be unnerving.  You may think when is the other shoe going to drop.  You may embrace the change of routine.  You may just thank God and not think anymore of it.
Paul and his traveling companions had been in horrible conditions for a length of time where it may had felt like it would only end in their death.  However, once they got to Malta, God provided them people to show them great kindness.  They were provided fire to warm them and shelter from the rain.
Paul was getting wood for the fire when a viper bit his hand.  This was a death sentence, but Paul just shook the snake into the fire and went on like nothing had happened.  He knew he was going to make it to Rome.  He knew he would not die on the island.
The Chief Official was Publius.  He entertained them for three days.  Paul learned that his father had dysentery, so Paul healed the man.  This made him popular.  Everyone sick on the island came to find Paul.  The entire group was rewarded with being treated with honor. They even gave them supplies to continue their journey.
It took a while, but Paul finally made it to Rome.  He thanked God for it all.  He was allowed to live alone with only one guard.  It was a miracle.

Acts 28:1-16
