Shekhinah (shuh hee naa) is שְׁכִינָה in Hebrew. It means "dwelling" or "settling". It represents the manifested presence of God in this world. It is used for the name "the Presence of God". Other terms for being the presence of God is Panim (פָּנִים) and Kavod (כָּבוֹד). They represent the weight of facing God in His presence. Shekhinah is not a name in the Bible, but it has been used by Rabbis in refence to God's presence.
Shekhinah refers to being able to see God visibly. You are able to abide in His glorious presence. When He rescued His people from Egypt He stayed with them in the form of a mystical cloud. He was a manifestation of His glory. Later He was in His tabernacle and temple. Throughout the Bible God made His presence known to His people. He really connected when Jesus came into the world.
When you pray using the name Shekhinah you are seeking to be closer to God. You are looking to see Him in your life. He made people to need connection with other people, but mostly Him.
You connect with Him in a different way when you seek His presence. The world around you stops and you focus on Him with no agenda other than to connect. When you stop and do this you can feel His presence in a rainbow, nature, sunrise, standing on a beach, hiking, looking into the sky, in your garden, and other ways. It is the best gift you can get daily.
