Qedosh Yisrael (ke-DOSH yis-ra-AIL) is קְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל in Hebrew. It means "Holy One of Israel" or "Set Apart One of Israel". The name emphasizes God setting Israel apart from all other nations to be unique and holy. God's people are not mundane. God is being transparent about how His people have a purpose in this world and should never settle for being like everyone else. Christians are identified by Him.
Qedosh Yisrael was given after God told Moses that Israel is Holy because I am your God who is Holy. It was used 29 times in Isaiah, but for the first time in Leviticus. In Isaiah it was used to foretell about Jesus. Qedosh Yisrael is about being unique, pure, and entering a covenant relationship with God. It is about God being your redeemer, savior, and sovereign. He has commanded His people to be holy, so to follow Jesus is to keep yourself holy.
Pray using the name Qedosh Yisrael when you are seeking to understand who you are to God and what it means to be His. Pray when you want sanctification, clarity, embracing being set apart, and direction with purpose. Pray using Qedosh Yisrael when you need meaning in life or the need to feel close to Him. He is with you no matter how challenging life becomes. He never leaves you.
