When you need help in life, you have an idea of those you can go to. You expect certain people to be there when you need them. It can be a hard blow when you discover that they may not be. Each person has their own lives and need help themselves. Sometimes, they just don't have anything to give when you need help.
Then there are the times that you expect a church group, family, or work colleges to have your back and they end up being the ones that are causing you pain. Paul experienced this. He was raised to be a Pharisee. He was one of the best that they had. When he turned to follow Christ, they began to hunt him like a criminal.
Paul found help in the last place that he would have probably been looking. He had gained the confidence in a Roman commander. This commander made sure that Paul got to safety. He could have turned Paul over to those whom wanted him dead, but instead he gave him protection. He forced Paul's accusers to go all the way to Rome to face Governor Felix. Paul got to Governor Felix first. The governor was willing listen to his story and kept Paul in Herod's Palace with protection.
When we follow God, He will give us protection. He rewards obedience, even when you may not see it immediately. Acts 23: 23-35
