What is clean?

I am a bit OCD about organization ( I like things to be in their place), but not cleanliness.  I don't mind a bit of dust as long as it does not interfere with my allergies.  I like a house the looks lived in instead of set for a photo shoot.  (I can never relax in those homes).  I don't think everything needs to be sterile.  We need some germs to become strong.  Everyone has their standard on what is clean (enough) and what is not.  We all have our little rituals to make ourselves feel better.
Now, imagine Jesus coming in person to your home.  He doesn't notice that they floors have not been clean.  He is inspecting your heart. He came and made it clear what makes you clean and what does not.  He does not care if you forget to wash your hands before you eat.  He wants you to give up your little rituals, traditions, or ceremonies of perfection to meet with Him.  That is the only way He can make you truly clean.  It is the only way He can take your burdens.
Anything that comes from our human nature is unclean.  It reveals how much the world has affected our hearts.  Our natural heart is wicked.  Jesus will test us to reveal to us our wickedness.  It is the only way we will surrender it.  How can you confess and repent if you don't think it is a sin?  Sometimes the process can become overwhelming or unpleasant.  Dig your heels in to become steadfast.  The peace that will come in the end will be a grand reward.
