An Innocent Convicted

In the perfect world there would be no need for jails, courts, or politicians.  However, we live in the "fallen world".  That means that justice is not blind, it is not perfect.  Innocent people still go to jail.  Criminals go free or do not have to pay the full price of the crime.  The public does not always feel safe.  There are prejudices that are unfounded.  Yet, we all accept it as a part of life.
Jesus was not the first person to ever be convicted and sentenced to death while innocent.  Unfortunately, He will not be the last.  The worst part is that it goes for unsubstantiated charges too.  I would like to think with all the technology and science that we have to help us today that it would not happen, but some people have their own agendas like the Pharisees.
Jesus was an innocent man that was beaten almost to the point of death before His sentence was even carried out.  He was mocked and abused verbally, mentally, and emotionally.  Good thing He was God in the flesh because I don't know of any other person would not be broken (even in silence).  Instead, Jesus pointed out that they only had the power in life that God allowed.
Just like there are selfish and brutal people in power, there are also the cowards.  Pilot represented them.  He did not want to convict Jesus, but he did not have the back bone to put him career in jeopardy for Him either.  Jesus did point out that his guilt was not as much as the actual murderers, but he was still guilty of Jesus' death.
When Jesus was black, blue, and red He carried His own cross to be crucified on.  Can you see it.  Jesus walking down the road with His flesh hanging off His back, raw with the lesions and putting a heavy wooden load on top of that.  All the while, the city just watched which made them guilty too.  Yet, He still had more to endure.

John 19: 1-24
