To succeed in life you need a plan. It is what clears the cob webs and removes some of the distractions that would have you take detours. Now every good plan has room for growth, change, or insight from other people. A good leaders understands the importance of planning and how to set that plan into motion. They know that it can change and are willing to change for what is best for their people.
When King Asa died, his son Jehoshaphat became the king of Judah. When he became king he walked with God who gave him strength to do what was best for his nation. He was a planner, so he began with strengthening himself against Israel because of his father's action. God was pleased with his leadership, so He established Jehoshaphat with wealth and honor.
After being king for three years, he sent out for the teachers of the law to the cities. He wanted to educate his people on how to live and serve God. Education is the most powerful gift you can give another person. His plan worked.
His nation lived in peace and gained more power. His planning brought about a vast army that was intimidating among larger nations. Even the Philistines brought peace offerings to King Jehoshaphat. His planning and God's blessing led to a very strong nation.
Planning requires knowing what you want. It is taking time out to figure out a road map on how to get from point a to point b. It is a skill that has to be developed. If you want to see your life change, then pray for God to help direct your plan. Write down your plan and pray over it. Tweak it where it is needed, then put your plan into motion. There will be detours, but that is what makes life interesting.
