Attitude

For some generations attitude is associated with the negative.  With other generations it is something to be proud of and to wear like a statement flag,  I believe that the attitude belongs somewhere in between.  It is the mind set that motivates you to go a certain direction.  By itself it is not negative, positive, uplifting, or defiant.  Attitude is a mental position.
Job was hurt by Eliphaz's mistrust, but more than that he was confused by God.  Why would God allow this to happen to him when he had been faithful?  Everything was wearing on his soul.  When more negative pours into the soul than positive, the attitude tends to get polluted.  Job was tired: mind ,body, and soul.  He had a defeated attitude.
Job's had lost all hope.  He was convinced that this would kill him horribly and slow.  He felt like he had no purpose or reason left to live and that death would be a welcome escape.
When he did sleep he was terrorized and just waited to awake, but when he awoke he was in horrible pain.  We are the most vulnerable when we sleep.  If there is a crack in our armor, this is when Satan will most likely find it and attack the mind.
Job begged God to tell him what he had done to deserve all of this, but God was being silent.  He begged for forgiveness for any unintentional sin, but he felt like God was not listening.  Job wanted to give up and just wait for death and that meant that he was not going to hold his tongue and be polite to make other people feel more comfortable.
This must have hurt God to watch and listen, but He had to be silent or Satan would not get the message.  God does not enjoy watching us suffer.  Our pain does not bring Him enjoyment.
