Prayer for a Nation

 

    

    It is easy to think and pray over your own life and family.  It is easy for some to take personal responsibility over your own life.  It gets complicated when you start thinking of yourself as a small aspect in a bigger purpose.  It means lowering yourself for for the benefit of other people, maybe people that you never will meet.  

    Take personal responsibility for the state that your entire nation is a mindset.  If you switch your mind frame into this mode versus personal mode, it means that you have a lot more people to pray about and care about.

    When God gets mad at a nation, it may feel personal.  That is because you are a part of the nation which means that you fall into part of the problem or the solution.  Just because you are a Christian does not mean that God will never get mad at you.  He had redeemed you, but that means you are held at a higher standard.  You have the Christian nation to consider plus the nation you were born into or chosen to be your home.

    God has standards.  We are encouraged to have feelings and emotions, but not at the expense of His standards.  His standards actually make things simpler.  You know what is expected and never have to question it.  God has his boundaries very clear throughout the Bible.

    Following God may make you feel alone, but you have an entire nation with you and they may feel the same way.  We need to come together and look for what makes us alike instead of what makes us different.  We are stronger together.  We can work together to rid ourselves of God's anger.  It is better than trying to do everything on your own.

    We don't have to live oppressed.  We don't need to live foolishly.  We may live in a violent world, but we don't have to live in fear.  Take the good moments and find joy.  Look for moments to laugh.  Trust God to handle the enemy and prayerfully look for ways to live as a nation together in harmony with God.  At the same time finding a fulfilled life in taking care of each other.
