Shofet is the Hebrew name of God of Judgment. It translates God as the ruler. There is no competition. He will defeat anything that comes against Him. That is why His name is so powerful. The question you need to ask yourself is: Do I want to be a follower or an enemy of God?
God is known and His name is great, but how does that apply to you? It is about seeing life in the proper perspective. It is knowing God is more than an idea or this foreign entity. He is a hands on God that provides shelter daily. He doesn't go around wiping out everyone that goes against Him because then there would be no one left. He love people. He wants to give each of us time to figure things out.
The perspective you are looking for is your identity in concept to Shofet. If you died today, would you be ready to face Him? Are you comfortable in your own skin as a follower of God or does it feel foreign? His rebuke is a gift because it shows His love for you and creates personal boundaries to make your life journey easier.
We are all in battle: spiritual, emotional, or physical. Sometimes we are battling on multiple battle fields. It is not easy to keep things in God's perspective at all times. The battle against God is the battle of wills. Are you willing to submit or are you determined to have the last word? It takes strength to submit, but you will discover power behind it.
Shofet is true, honest, and just. He reigns from Heaven, but present here and now. His wrath can breaks or makes people. He deserves our praise for His restraint. You should hold a respectful fear, but not live in terror. As a survivor in this world, you have a story. What are you going to do with your story?
