When you pray what is behind the words? Are you motivated by fear and reaching out as a last hope, but no real faith? Is it out of desperation to just see if anything will change? Is it out of greed or pride because you deserve it? Are you praying to be closer to God? Even the most faithful people can have mixed motives at times. We are all human. We just have to face who we are and why we do what we do.
When you cry out to God is should be in confidence that He will take care of you or the situation. It is important that you believe that He is listening when you seek Him out. Otherwise, you may miss how He is responding. Having confidence in God gives you the ability to ask for things boldly. The more you understand who He is, the more pure your motives can become. We all start somewhere and sometimes we all need a refresher.
When you pray confidently to God, you will discover comfort in your soul. Confidence in God gives your words power when you pray. When your soul is weak and groaning in pain, He can feel far away. The truth is that we are the ones pushing Him away. The disappointments of life can weight heavy on people. However, God is right there waiting to restore the relationship. He loves you unconditionally.
Praying confidently and humbly provides the ability to receive God's compassion and mercy. Meditate on His Word and deeds and you can see all that He has done for you in your life. His way is Holy and He is making your Holy. That alone displays His power in redemption. We may never understand everything or see all that He does for us, but that doesn't mean that we can't still follow what we do see and learn along the journey.
Psalm 77
