Integrity is the favorite word of one of my literature teachers, Mrs. Campbell. When she told the class that at the beginning of the semester about the word, I was like okay so what. However, years later I find that it is one of my favorite words too and it is not just because she was a great teacher. It is because of the personal power behind the word. Integrity is a personal characteristic of being honest and having strong moral principles to act upright in all situations.
A vow of Integrity takes the personal characteristics a step further. It is a covenant to God to live intentionally this way and to do what you have to do not to become corruptible. It is a vow that every leader should make. It is not an easy vow to make sometimes. We all have areas where we want to look the other way because we think we can't change things, no time to change things, or we just accept things how they are. This vow doesn't allow you to look the other way.
A vow if integrity is a vow to live blameless and stand for justice. It should be a lifestyle that allows you to live with a clear conscience. It is a public and private lifestyle of purity that is governed by wisdom. If you choose to break the vow, then you loose your position in respect or in reality.
This means that you may have to let go of some relationships to keep your heart and mind from wondering into the evils of the world that may appear harmless in the beginning. It is taking a realistic look at who you are to have a humble heart and knowing where you have to draw the line. It is not about making the other people feel bad. They just may not be where you are right now. When you live a life of integrity it is about bringing out your best qualities and strengthening your weaker ones to honor God. If you approach relationships like that, then you may just lead others to God instead of pushing them away. However, walk away if it will be toxic.
