Solomon was known as the wisest man in history. He used proverbs to get people to think and use philosophy to make life changing decisions. When we can figure out the solution for ourselves it is empowering. He used proverbs because they are short sayings or phrases that state a general truth or piece of advice. Each verse in this chapter is a different Proverb. I am just summarizing them.
A parent finds joy in having children with wisdom. If their child follow's God, then they do not have to worry about what will happen, how they will behave, or anything else. They are righteous and God will take care of them. However, God will frustrate the plans of the wicked who only bring pain to their parents.
Work diligently toward what you want for your future. Enjoy the memories you have because they are meant to be a blessing. Memories are what make up who you are. The wise will accept commands and act on them with integrity. Work hard while respecting God and you will have a joy filled life. God is the refuge to the righteous. Righteousness ruins evil.
The fool will act maliciously and fill fall to their own ruin. Their hateful hearts stir dissension. Their hate makes their path. With sin comes loose lips. They will be swept away by their feelings, emotions, or moods. They have no steady ground to stand on. They try to work the system instead of working. They accomplish nothing in life.
Love, covers all wrongs and leads to forgiveness. Discernment speaks wisdom through common sense. Store up knowledge to have wealth in righteousness. Self-discipline will not lead you astray and knows how to keep the tongue still. When a wise person speaks they bring blessings because they delight in wisdom.
