Death is the end of life. It is permanent with no do overs. To deal with death is to face it head on knowing what it means. Isaiah may have seen more death than anyone in the world. He knew what it was to face death and how to deal with it. He understood what it all meant.
Ephraim was a wealthy nation, but had a pride and drunkard issue. The cost was that their beauty faded and wealth lost. God used natural disasters to ruin the place and reveal His power. He was trying to show them how indulgence and no self-control was foolish. It was the first city of God's people to fall into woe: devasting punishment. God's justice and judgment reveals his strength.
The leaders failed their people by not leading them into righteousness. The nobles were not good, but it was the priest and the prophets that really failed the people in their drunkenness. They clouded their mind and treated the people like children instead of God's people. God decided to send in foreigners to show them how to follow Him. However, the people of Ephraim still did not listen.
They hurt themselves by willingly falling into Satan's traps because they did not believe in God. The outcome was that they entered the covenant of death which destroyed the covenant of David. It shackled them to death and destruction. It is a dark path.
At the grave agreements do not change. Where you are spiritually at this point is eternally binding. There is no where to hide from death, so you might as well figure out what you want from eternity before it comes for you.
A strong foundation of order that comes from God is tested and endured. It means that you can trust God without any doubts. Listen, learn, and accept the gift of salvation given by Jesus. Live a thriving and full life without fear of eternity. The Holy Spirit will guide you in your journey. It is not an easy journey, but wisdom comes from the hard times.
