God Judges Leaders

Leaders are held at a higher standard than the people that they are leading.  They set the direction for their people.  Their people's lives, livelihood, education, and sometimes spiritual growth are in their hands.  That is why when a leader takes their own self interest and puts it above their people's interest, God will judge the leader.
We are all held personally responsible for how we live our lives, but we can only work with what we are given.  If a leader hold you back, then that is not your fault.  However, God is the ultimate leader.  He will not let a soul die without an opportunity to know Him.
God judged the king and the spiritual leaders of Jeremiah's nation.  God then had Jeremiah direct His message to all the nation's leaders.  The message was if you lead the people away from me, then I will destroy your life.  They abandoned His covenant (Sinaitic).
Leaders are to do what is right and good for everyone.  That means saving their people from oppressors, not becoming one.  They are ordered not to do wrong or give into violence.  A leader should never kill the weak or innocent.  Instead, they should focus on obeying God.  If they turn their back on God, then they are not worth crying over when they go to face God.
God has the power to destroy anything He created and He created everything.  Leaders need to remember that before they lead their people into captivity, injustice, or death.  A leader needs to defend the needy.  Be honest with yourself to see with clear eyes and heart.  The wicked will be shamed and disgraced.  They will not prosper forever.  We still have hope even if we have a bad leader because we still have Jesus.
