Interpreting a dream is not always easy. Some people go to astrological and mystical ways to interpret a dream. It may make you feel smart or good, but the only way to know for sure is to go to God. Not all dreams are from Him. Some can be from what you have seen or done, what you eat, the demonic world, or a message from God. You have to go to God to know the difference and rid yourself of any demonic dreams.
King Nebuchadnezzar began to have troubling dreams around 602 BC. They made it hard for him to sleep. He needed to understand them. His magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, and astrologers were not able to discern the root or meaning of the dreams. Since the king was a perfectionist and sleep deprived, he was becoming very irritable which could be dangerous because of his position.
The king order the executions of all wisemen. This included Daniel and his friends. Daniel went to face the problem and asked his three friends to pray. He spoke with the officer, Arioch, using wisdom to ask if he could go to the king and plead for mercy. He wanted to avoid execution, but if he couldn't at least he tried everything and didn't just give up and accept death. He still had faith.
God revealed the meaning of the dreams when Daniel was sleeping that night. When we sleep we are more acceptable and vulnerable. Sometimes we have to be that way to tune out the world and distractions. Also know if it is a dream from God, He will introduce Himself. It won't be questionable.
Daniel praised God for the wisdom and discernment that had been given to him. God had given the king a vision of what was to come. Daniel had to go to him to give him understanding and save the lives of God's wisemen.
Nebuchadnezzar held dominion, power, might, and glory. However, the next king would be inferior in every way. This cycle would continue with four empires. Then a strong king would come, but he would be cruel. God would take his hand and sweep him away. This represents the final kingdom when Jesus would become savior.
The king was relieved to have an answer. He even tried to worship Daniel, but God corrected him immediately giving God all the credit. The king gave Daniel a high position of honor as governor and many gifts. Daniel made his three friends powerful administrators were they could remain in court together. When you act on faith, then there is a reward. You just can't count on it always being something like a good title or money. It may be more subtle.
