Ohr Haolam

Ohr Haolam (OHR hah-oh-LAHM) is אור העולם in Hebrew.  It means "Light of the Word".  Ohr (אור) means light.  Haolam (העולם) means the world or the universe. It is a name used for God because God is the creator of the world, the universe, and light.  Who He is produces light.  It can be physical light, but also hope, and renewed light within the soul.
Ohr Haolam describes God while Brit Chadashah describes Jesus more accurately, but the names can be interchanged since they are both God.  Brit Chadashah is more for how Jesus brought divine enlightment into the world.  God's light brings order into this chaotic world.  He was always prepared for it.
If you follow Jesus, then you are full of the light of God.  This means you need to be able to show compassion to those who are still stuck in the dark.  The more you trust God to take care of you the more of His light will shine out of you.  As your character becomes more like Jesus the more people will see him in you.  Use the light God gave you to give the world His hope.
When you pray using the name Ohr Haolam you are seeking God's light to reveal truth, bring life to your soul, and warm you when life tries to make you cold.  You can use the name as a blessing.  Blessings light up peoples lives.  You can also use the name to ask God how to help you be His light in the world.  Ask Him to make you the blessing in people's lives.  Ask Him how to use His light to bring glory to Him instead of you.

Genesis 1:3-5, Matthew 5:14-16, Luke 11:34-36, & John 8:12, 9:3-5, 12:44-50
