Family of God

 

    Coming to the Lord's table is a symbol of unity, grace, and fellowship among the family of God.  It is the family coming together to remember what Jesus did for them.  It should remind you how you were adopted into God's family.  Jesus created the way for your invitation to be at God's table as a family member.  He created the opportunity for you to have an intimate relationship with God and communion with other followers.  He feeds you physically and spiritually.

    Jesus was taken with no evidence and put on three trials in a matter of hours.  He was sentenced to death and died the most vial criminals death.  The Jewish nation thought it was over, but it was only the beginning.  He died on Friday, had a rushed preparation and was put in a borrowed tomb because Saturday was the Sabbath.  On Sunday death's power was destroyed as Jesus rose from the dead.  Anyone who believes and follows him becomes a member of the family of God.  

    Jesus is the first born son and will have all the rights of being who he is, but you get to be a part of God's family.  It would never have happened without Jesus being obedient to God.  He is the big brother that leads you to eternal safety and protection.  He is what provides security in your life.  When you choose to follow him faithfully you become more like him.  

    You will experience trails and tribulations that will burn away your impurities and refine you to look more like Jesus.  You will not reach perfection until Heaven.  It is the journey that matters.  You have the Holy Spirit to help you live victoriously over death and sin.  Jesus set you free from it's chains.  Sin should grieve you like it does Jesus.  It is your time to live up to your birthright as a child of God.  It is time to be repentant and a righteous ambassador as you come to your Father's table.
