The Bible is the sword of the spirit. It is God's Word. It is a powerful offensive weapon in spiritual warfare. You use God's Word as the sword when you read with focus and purpose, memorize scriptures, and learn the context for the scriptures. Pray over the scriptures you read and how to use them in conversation.
Satan knows God's Word. He knows how to twist and manipulate them to steer people away from God. You have to pray for the truth as you read. It may require you going back and forth, but do not rely on other people's opinions or judgments. They could be wrong and it could cost you not to find the truth.
You God's Word to learn God's Character and how to follow Jesus. The more you lean into the truth the less likely you will be confused, be tempted, or sin. You are more likely to to find manipulation and lies offensive. Memorizing and praying over scriptures will help you with anxiety and feeling overwhelmed by the world.
The power of the sword should affect you and not only be a weapon for your enemies. It should pierce your heart when you allow sin into your life. It should be a form of correction, repentance, and facing reality. It exposes false beliefs. It should change your heart to love in a way that you want to the world to know Jesus and find salvation too. It should give you strength to do what is right over what is easy. It helps you live out your salvation.
