When we judge people we are leaving ourselves open to be judged. We all know this, but then we go around making little judgments. Sometimes we keep them to ourselves and other times we make comments. The judgments may be fair to the human standard, but we are breaking the boundaries that God laid out for us. He said we should leave judgment to Him.
God makes judgment based on His rules, authority, truth, and understanding the person's heart. He is trying to show kindness that leads to repentance. When we judge it is because we want things a certain way. If we are going to make judgments, then we need to broaden our mindset to become more like Jesus.
When a person shows that they have a stubborn or unrepentant heart, then they are asking for God's wrath to be released in judgment. We are all judged according to how we live: good or bad. God expects His family to pursue what is good while seeking glory and honor for Him, and immortality for ourselves. When we chose evil, then we are asking for life to become more difficult than it already is. For the unbeliever, that is eternity separated from God with no more hope.
God does not have favorites. He will never show favoritism to anyone, but we are all treated differently because we are all different people. The law does not make you righteous. It is your heart and conscious that is surrendered to God that will make you righteous. Over time, it should reveal you becoming more like Jesus.
Romans 2:1-16
