Missionary Drive

When a person is a missionary, they surrender their own desires completely to God.  It is no longer about self-preservation.  Instead, it is what will best serve the Lord.  That is hard because human nature is about protecting yourself and your family before anything else.  Missionaries are human, so that is still a part of them.  They do their best to serve God selflessly.
We can find inspiration on our path through Paul.  If he could do it, then why can't we.  He was constantly traveling to serve God.  He was blessed with good traveling companions to help him throughout his missionary life.  They gave him wise counsel, but if it went against what God was directing, then he would not follow their advice.
This happened when he was headed to Jerusalem.  They feared for his life and did not want him to go.  However, he was determined.  When they saw that there was no use in arguing with him, they turned their pleas into prayer and sent him on his way.
On his way home, he stayed with Philip, an evangelist.  Philip had four prophesying daughters.  They saw what would happen to him if he went home.  They cried and begged him not to go.  However, Paul's life was no longer his own to do with as he wanted.  He was Jesus' bonded servant.   That meant he had to continue on his journey knowing the danger he was walking into.
The road that the Holy Spirit leads you on may not be easy, but it is ultimately the best road.  It is the only road that matters in life.  We live not for this world, but for eternity.  When it gets hard or scary we can always trust that promise.

Acts 21:1-16
