Physically Being a Prisoner

I believe that everyone has lived in their own prison at one time or another.  However, being in the constitutional prison is something else completely.  As a Believer, if you find yourself in prison for your belief's you can also find freedom.  You may be restricted and treated poorly in the flesh, but the soul can journey to places that no one can touch.  These places are God's promises.  You know your eternity.  This journey can enable you to find peace in the worst situations.
Paul became the centurion Julius' prisoner on the Imperial Regiment headed to the Asia Province.  At port, Paul was allowed to see his friends.  They were allowed to tend to his needs.  It is not like prison in the USA where you have everything taken care for you (Food, cleanliness, entertainment).  In other countries, if you don't have people to bring you your basic needs in prison, then you are going to most likely die in there.
When the prison ship landed in Lycia, then changed ships to get to Italy.  It was a slow journey.  They were taking so long that they risked entering the seas during winter when it becomes quite dangerous.  Paul tried to warn them, but the Centurion ignored his warnings.  He wanted to get to Phoenix to prepare for winter there because the captain and owner of the ship felt that the harbor they were in was unsuitable for winter.

Acts 27:1-12
