When a person allows you to speak openly and freely it is a gift. A gift that you should handle with care. In the American culture we tend to say anything without thinking how our words will affect the people listening or being spoken about. When a person offers open communication use it wisely. Be careful how you express the truth. There is no need to intentionally cause pain or sugar coat things that need to be said.
King Agrippa told Paul he could speak openly. Paul was well educated and wise. He told the truth, but how he worded things were deliberate. He was dealing with a Politician and he knew words could be twisted. He used it as an opportunity to give his testimony in a way that a Politician could relate.
Festus was not as gracious as Agrippa. He interrupted Paul by calling him insane. Paul spoke clearly to prove that he was not insane. Paul did not make them converts, but he did as Christ ask. He gave them the opportunity to make a choice about a relationship that would affect eternity. Agrippa's curiosity was appealed to and saw no reason to keep Paul. The only reason he was kept was because he appealed to speak with Caesar.
