How to Pray

When Jesus was among His disciples, it came to knowledge that some of them, probably most, did not know how to pray.  They saw Him praying to God and knew that there was some sort of power held in the exchange.  Jesus taught them the Lord's Prayer because it gives structure along with simplicity.  Prayer does not need to be complicated.
You start with acknowledging who God is.  Move onto aligning your ideas with His through submission.  Ask for the needs of life with the faith that He will provide.  Ask for forgiveness and the ability to forgive others.  Before you stop, be sure to give thanksgiving for all He has already done for you.
Prayer should be a part of your life like eating and breathing.  It needs to get to the point where it is natural.  It may still feel unnatural when you pray in front of other people because you are taking something private and intimate to be shared with people.  Don't let that stop you from praying boldly, honestly, and persistently.  God wants to provide, but sometimes you need to know just how important it is to you.  When asking for things, do it through the Holy Spirit to check it's purity in nature.  If it is pure in nature, then He will provide.  Seek His will and you will find an open door to Him.
Pray for protection from Satan.  Satan loves to have you feel divided and torn up on the inside.  Jesus can give you peace.  Gather to Him for stability on continuous cleaning of the Spirit.  No one can harm you without God's permission.  If you are fearful, ask for extra protection, then live life knowing He is taking care of you.  Blessed are those who obey Jesus' teachings.

Luke 11: 1-28
