Intertwined but Separate

Jesus and John's lives were always intertwined, but they had very different parts.  They had a close and special bond, but they hardly got to spend time together.  God's Word came to John, but Jesus is the Word.  John preached about baptism and redemption, but Jesus brought salvation and redemption.  John was the voice that got people listening, so that when Jesus spoke they were ready to hear.
Redemption is what bring life while cutting away what is trying to drag you to Hell.  That is why John began baptism by water.  Water washes away what is dirty.  Jesus' baptism affects the Spirit and has a fire like affect to your old soul.  It washes away sin, but burns the roots too (if you allow the Holy Spirit to do so).
John began his ministry at a young age.  Jesus began His when He was about 30.  They loved God  together, but they did things differently.  They both have great impact on the world, but no one is Jesus.  That is why we should not compare our walks with each other.  We just need to focus on our relationship with Jesus and where our walk is taking us individually.  Pray for Jesus to open your mind to be able to do hear Him better and to follow despite the circumstances.
