Looking Up and Down

Every person has been given more than they deserve.  There is none that should act entitled over any area.  It is all God's, including your body.  That is why we need to be good stewards.  We are accountable to more than just ourselves.
Don't take advantage of the blessings that He has given you, even the ones that feel like curses at times.  Use what you have wisely while understanding that you can't serve God and money.  You will live for God or yourself (which is ultimately for Satan).  What people regard highly, God finds revolting.  It comes down to whom you want to be in favor of.  (Side note:  Having money is not a sin or a bad thing.  It is what money means to you that can become tainted.)
Jesus's life was prepared by many over centuries, but John was the one that shared time with Jesus.  Every aspect of Jesus' life was to fulfill the Law of God.  We require laws because our hearts gravitate toward sin.  We need to look ourselves up and down in the mirror to evaluate who you really are and where your heart truly lies.
The rich need to look down to see those whom do not have what they have.  People have needs.  If you are able to help, then why not help?  Those that are needy, look up to see what you have that those with things or good health may not.  You do not take things for granted.  You have an opportunity to rely on God in a way that they will never understand.  No matter where you stand in the socioeconomic scale, without God, it is all for nothing.  There is no need for anyone to suffer for nothing.
