No home

Once Jesus began His ministry, He did not have a home of His own.  He relied totally on the charity of others or the love of His followers.  One Sabbath day He found Himself in the home of a prominent Pharisee.  The Pharisee was looking for a way to trap Jesus in His words.  How can anyone relax in those type of situations?  Most of us deal with stress, then go home to relax.  Jesus did not have that option.  He had to wait to go home (heaven).
Jesus was not concerned about people's traps.  He healed a man with dropsy, an illness that accumulates fluid in the body causing abnormalities.  He said it is better to display love than let people suffer to honor the Sabbath.  The problem is once people get a taste of power and their word becomes authority, it is hard for them to let go of it.  They did not respond to Jesus, but in their hearts they hated Him.
Jesus went a step further to embarrass His host.  He pointed out that they expect the place of honor, but it is better to go to the lowest place.  That way the host can invite them to sit at the place of honor at the table.  To exalt yourself invites being humbled.  Who wants to be humbled with an audience?  Go ahead and humble yourself and Jesus will exalt you when it is time.
Do good things for those who can never repay your kindness.  The blessings you will receive is far better than any material reward.  Don't seek to have the perfect home.  Your home is in Heaven with Jesus.  Work on establishing that home.  It is okay to let a few things fall into the crack on Earth, but be a good steward with what God has given you.
