Holidays

Holidays may just feel like a hallmark money making festival, but they are more than that.  God created holidays for a purpose.  People, in general, work really hard during the week.  They are supposed to rest one day, but it does not seem like enough time for most of us.  People get run down.  We are not the energizer bunny.  That is why God threw in some holidays.
Holidays are meant to be a time of worship, feasting, and truly celebrating in a way that is reviving for the individual.  It may be parties for some and it may be staying home reading a book for others.  Either way, we need it.  Look past the commercialism to the true meaning of each holiday.  For those whom have to work on holidays, get together and come up with a plan to get them off that will be profitable for the big wigs. Use Chick-fil-a as an example.  They close holidays and every Sunday, but are one of the most profitable fast food chains.
There is a time and place for everything.  That includes standing firm when everyone around you does not understand.  Jesus is a great example on how to do the right thing against all odds.  He teaches us how to tell the truth in all circumstances.  You can be honest and plain, but not always blunt.  We all need to learn when to remain quiet and maybe in the background too.
A good way is to ask questions.  It reveals the truth to the person or others without you ever needing to call out anhyone.  Do not judge based on appearances or how a situation may appear.  Let God do the judging.  Focus on how you can do your best and let God work on everyone else.  The only time we have the right to judge is when it is over righteousness.

John 7: 1-24
