Recognize the Need

There are times in life that you know that you need to changes, get help, or to be something that you are not.  You just don't know how to get there.  You may have even thought that you had the answers, but things only got worse.  It can take some time to realize that the need is for Jesus.  You can be a Christian and still not surrendered everything over to Him.  That is why it is called a life journey.
Zacchaeus was such a person.  His lifestyle was one of deceit and cheating.  He knew He had to see Jesus, but he was a small man.  His fix to the problem was to climb a tree.  He may not of even known why he needed to see Jesus so badly other than the fact that Jesus was becoming famous.  The moment that Jesus made eye contact must have been a moment of elation.
Jesus saw Zacchaeus and saw the need that Zacchaeus still had not identified yet.  He told the small man to come down the tree, so He could go to Zacchaeus' house.  Jesus spent the whole day there.  This of course offended the religious types.
Zacchaeus wanted to be a part of Jesus' world, so he did all he knew, he offered Jesus money and things.  Being with Jesus made him realize how badly he had treated people.  He just did not know how to fix it on his own.  With Jesus' help, a solution was found and he got salvation.  Ultimately, that is the goal to receive true healing and begin the process of mending relationships.
Life is a process of learning and adapting to changes.  It is foolish to think that everything will be fixed the moment of salvation or when you see a solution.  We have to be patient.  Use what God gives you wisely by being good stewards.  The Bible is your guide book to becoming spiritually rich.

Luke 19: 1-27
