Beginning Leviticus

When I first started studying the Bible, Leviticus was one of the books I would avoid.  I grew up in church, so I thought I understood what was considered sin.  I didn't want to read a whole chapter to tell me what I was not doing right in my life.  It all seemed so boring and stripping of any type of fun in life.
Leviticus is a book about how a Spiritual leader should live and do the job while teaching people how to live a pure life.  However, more than that it teaches us how to worship God.  If we are willing to read the book with an nonjudgmental mind, we may just find a hidden gem.
We can't have a relationship with God unless we face sin.  There is intentional and unintentional sin.  How we deal with them directly affects what kind of relationship we will have with God.  A repentant heart will open all sorts of doors.  However, if you refuse to admit that you have sinned, then the doors all close around you.
Sin has a horrible price.  It has always required innocent blood to be sacrificed to atone it.  Lucky for us we no longer have to sacrifice animals, but it is also heart breaking that Jesus had to die because we selfishly live our lives our way.
Confession is hard because it exposes you, but it is also the most freeing things you can do to escape the chains that weigh you down and choke the life out of you because of sin.  It allows fellowship with other people.  It opens your heart up to accept forgiveness.  Depending on the level of hurt caused by the sin, it only opens up the door for healing.  You may just have to back up your words with actions over time for people.  However, God knows the heart.  It gives Him the opportunity to show you grace.
