Acknowledging Sin

Sin is an unpopular topic.  No one wants to hear what they are doing is wrong. Then we push deeper by telling them that their attitude or way of thinking is wrong.  It is natural that the person shuts down.  There has to be a better way than making people defensive or insulting them.  We need to be able to have honest conversations about sin by working through the discomfort to find the truth.
The truth is that sin is real and we all sin.  That means we need to face our own sin before confronting another person on their own.  There are sins about omitting aspects of your life that you know would glorify God.  There are sins involving being unclean, but all sin makes you unclean.  There are sins about giving your word carelessly and having to follow through or break your word.  There are sins against God's Holy things.  Fyi, people are Holy things.
It all sounds so complicated.  How are we supposed to remember all the rules?  How do we not sin unintentionally?  I think it depends on being intentional about your relationship with God.  If you do not have one, then you will sin unknowingly.  If you are developing the relationship you will hit some bumps in the the road.  If you have one established, then you have to be listening to the Holy Spirit.  It is when we ignore Him that we sin.
We make things more complicated than they have to be.  Listen and do things in a Holy love and you can find ways to avoid sin.  When you do sin, confess it to God and try to do better next time.  Ask Him to help you with your problem areas.
