Types of Offerings: Part 1

What do you think about when you think about offerings?  I think about giving monetarily to God.  In reality offerings go hand in hand with sacrifices.  It was clearly laid out in the OT.  It can be more difficult to understand in the modern world because it requires us listening to the Holy Spirit to communicate with us.  We have to be in tune.
Sacrifice and offerings are a physical aspect of worship that displays devotions, thanksgiving, or request forgiveness.  It is a way to seek to be closer to God.
Sin offering covers unfaithfulness, deception, stealing, and cheating.  It is when a person causes another person to lose something.  The offering is to make it right with God, but then you still have to to the person you hurt and seek restitution.  Don't ever make the person you hurt seek you out.  It is good if they do, but it should always come from the offender first.  It makes a difference in the healing process.
A burnt offering obviously involved fire.  The fire removed the sin from the soul.  It required ceremony and cleansing.  That fire was never go out.  Today, that fire is to live in our soul to burn away our sinful nature and only provide light for the world to see.
A grain offering is where a portion went to God and a portion to the priest for food.  The part that was burned was considered Holy.  This bread never had yeast in it.  The priest's died was restrictive.
A Sin offering required a slaughter.  Sin always requires blood.  The blood went to God, but the priest were able to eat the non-fatty meat.  They did not work because their lives were devoted to being intercessors to God on behalf of the people.  They had to eat somehow, but the atonement had to come first.
