Building God a Home: Part 1

Not everyone can build an actual building, but we are all capable of building a home for God.  It is just making room for Him in your heart and soul.  It is giving Him permission to make Himself at home in your life.  It is letting Him make changes.  I didn't say it would always be easy, but we can all do it.
God's first home on earth was tent while the Hebrews traveled through the wilderness.  A few hundred years later, Solomon stopped everything to build God a home with a foundation.  A few hundred years after that Jesus would come to show us how to build a permanent home for God.
Solomon got the wood from King Hiram of Tyre.  He provided it to show friendship.  He had been friends with David and it was profitable, so he wanted to continue the friendship with David's son.  The two nations lived in peace and prosperity.  The work continued for years.
It took thousands of people to build the magnificent structure.  Solomon had 30,000 in his forced labor, but King Tyre provided 10,000 of his own men.  They had schedules, so that no one would be over worked and save lives.  Solomon had 70,000 porters and 80,000 stonecutters.
Every good home or building needs a strong foundation.  You become a Christian by faith alone, but you grow and build God's home over the years that follow.  Once your foundation is set (faith and understanding), then you can move on to he structure.
