Leadership & God Part 3

King Hezekiah was 25 when he became king of Judah. He was a king that followed God.  He reigned for 29 years trusting God to lead him.  God blessed him in that all the he did he succeeded.  Year after year, Hezekiah turned to God about decisions that would affect himself and his nation.
King Hezekiah rebelled against the Assyrian King by refusing to serve him.  God allowed Hezekiah to succeed in the victory against the scariest king of the time.  Hezekiah became so powerful because of God that he was even able to capture Samaria from the Assyrians after they had it for three years.
King Sennacherib of Assyria attached King Hezekiah in Lachish.  He accused Hezekiah of being weak and relying on Egypt to protect him.  When Sennacherib insulted Hezekiah, he insulted God.  Insulting God is never a good thing.  However Hezekiah did pay the ransom that Sennacherib demanded.
When Sennacherib did not respect the treaty and came to pursue Hezekiah, his officials went out to meet him.  They were loyal to their king because their king always did what was best for the nation.  They stood by their testimony and the Sennacherib's officials declared they would destroy the land.  Sennacherib, then tried to get the people to doubt their king and God, so the nation stood united.
When you choose to follow God, then doors open.  These doors may not be obvious to the outside world, but they are there.  The closer you get to God the more clear things become.  His instructions are a little less mysterious because you understand that you have walk by faith.  Once you make that leap of faith, then things may be revealed.  However, you may have to live by faith for a long time before things become clear.

2 Kings 18
