It is always nice to see a plan come into action. When it is actually fulfilled, it gives a feeling of success. It does not matter how small or big the plan. The feeling of success comes from moving forward. Defeated feelings come from being stagnant or feeling like you are moving backwards. But moving forward feels like you are accomplishing something.
Solomon built God's temple in a location that honored God and his father's relationship. It took him 20 years to finish the temple. That is a long time to wait for a plan to be visualized. However, once it was done, it was massive and beautiful. The building itself was only a part of the plan. A building was a beautiful creation, but just a building without the things that give it personality.
Solomon spent years gathering and making the décor for the interior of God's home. He did not hold back on expense, so once it was done it was breath taking and full of grandeur. A lot of the interior was done by Huram.
Once the ark was placed in it's appointed place it was all done. When it was all done it was time to celebrate. Some people had put their entire lives up to this point into this project and it was a success. Everyone could take a collective breath of appreciation and appreciate all the hard work put into making it a reality.
While the people celebrated, God entered His home in the form of a cloud. His glory filled the temple. It must have been an overwhelming experience. It must have felt good, but unless Solomon had kept planning it would also be a moment of climax followed by negative emotions.
When we are carrying out a plan, it is important to taking in the moments that makes it special, but it is also just as important to keep other plans either in your head or written down. Otherwise, it becomes bittersweet. We all need goals. We all need things to motivate us. We need something to work for or look forward to, to be able to keep moving.
