War Part 2

There are different kinds of war (mental, heart, or physical).  The battlefield is in different places: mind, emotions, or place.  It is hard and real no matter when or where your battle is.  Some people fight their whole lives, while others just have seasons.  Each battle changes you.
King David was a mighty warrior that went to battle every war season, which was in the spring.  He was the warrior that people feared and wanted to defeat.  If someone defeated David, then they would be famous or at least notorious.
When David got older he lost some of his speed and strength.  The younger soldiers did not want to loose their king in battle, so Joab went in his place to represent the king.  Joab overtook Rabbath and destroyed all the Ammonite towns.  The people that were not killed became slaves to the Israelites.
The Philistines had always been mighty warriors, especially with their giants.  However, God was with David and his men.  The Philistines had no chance against God's army.
War is not romantic.  It is not good, but it is necessary at times.  It is not to be taken lightly because it is life or death.  Mental war can cripple a person (abuse, illness, negative self-talk).  A war on the heart can destroy relationships (additions, fear, pride, and more).  Then there is the physical war where you may never feel safe.  You need to understand what you are fighting and why.  It is the only way you can work it out with God.
