The Risk Pays Off

Taking risk can be exciting and scary.  It would not be a risk unless you could loss something.  The bigger the risk the more you can loose or the bigger the reward.
Esther and Mordecai put their very lives on the line for an entire nations.  That is about as big of a risk a person can make.  Their reward was that the nation had a right to fight to live.  Personally they gained respect and riches.  Mordecai spent the rest of his life being powerful through the influence he had on the king, which made him famous.
The Jews stuck together and were victorious over those who were prejudice against them.  The Jews had spent years oppressed and afraid.  Now that those shackles were removed they were able to show what they were capable of when they work together.
The king was happy.  His nation was no longer in turmoil and he had a beautiful wife that was respectful and faithful.  He enjoyed making her happy.  He had Mordecai as his second in command, so he never had to worry about betrayal again.
Haman's 10 sons ended up being hanged for the sins of the father, but probably the passed down hate too.  For this family the risk did not pay off.  Not all risk will.  Over 75,000 men were killed because of their hate.  Hate is a risky business that will always cause a person to loose.
The Jews had the right to take the plunder of those that were killed in the skirmish, but they chose not to take any.  The event lasted for two days and on the third the Jews rested and celebrated.  After that it became an annual celebration.  To this day it is called Purim.  The word pur means witness.
