Confrontation Part 1

Confrontation is a part of life.  Some people thrive off of it.  They normally become lawyers or something else where they get paid to argue.  Other people wither under it.  Confrontation has a purpose in life.  It helps to establish healthy boundaries for the individuals involved.  The trick is to learn from it and not be crushed or crush other people.
Elihu was confronting Job and his three friends equally.  He was not insulting them.  He was not belittling them.  Instead he established his respect, purpose, and valid points to back up his statements.
Elihu pointed out to Job to look toward Heaven during his hardship, so that he would not focus so much on the situation.  We all get caught up in the situation at times.  We need people to snap us out of our self pity, focus on the pain, or falling into depression sometimes.  The reason Elihu said  what he did was so that Job would reevaluate the situation from a new perspective.
Elihu had good intentions, but he did not have all the facts.  If he had, then he would probably never said a word.  Sometimes when we try to help we actually can cause more harm.  If dealing with a very serious situation, then it is important to try to get all the information and educate yourself before confronting it.
Elihu's purpose was to get Job to see how his actions affected other people and himself.  It is good to evaluate ourselves.  What we do daily, is it for God or for ourselves?  Do we want to give of ourselves to God or just get things in life?
God gives us what we need.  He normally gives a lot more than what we need.  Do we appreciate what we have or just want more?  God made us special.  We have the ability to think and make decisions in life.  What do your decisions tell other people about who you are?  What in your life needs to be confronted?

Job 35
