The older I get the more I realize the importance and the need to have things and people that you can depend on in life. I also have realized that everyone is just trying to live their lives, so some of the people that you thought would be there for you are not. Things break down and become unreliable. We live in a time that you can't even depend on a job being there. It can leave a person feeling all sort of unhealthy feelings.
No matter how disappointing life can be, God is always there. It is one of His best characteristics: dependable. He is always there, but He will not be taken advantage of either. He is not a door mat. You don't only go to Him when you are in need. You need to be present throughout your life. He invented boundaries, so we can turn to Him to find that balance in life.
God being dependable can give you hope and rejoicing in your heart. You are not alone in this world. That can lift the soul out of a dark place. It can bring you out of shame from the sins of your past. Through spending time with Him, He can help mold you into being the person that you want to be. He is willing to teach if you are willing to learn.
God is truth that is dependable. His truth comes with mercy and love. It makes it okay to be dependent on Him. It is not like an unhealthy co-dependent relationship. This dependence makes you strong. Turn the sins of the past over to Him and forget about them. They no longer have power over you.
Focus on your relationship with God. It is the one relationship that will bring real healing into your life and soul. This relationship will set you free and make your life bigger, not smaller. He can remove anything that steals your peace in life. Put all your hope into Him and live life with integrity. There you will find real hope and happiness.
