Following God

 

    Following God is to follow Jesus.  It is not the easier path, but it is the best path.  You will live a life that you never imagined, but it will push you in areas that you will not want to venture.  It is more than words.  It is a lifestyle based on a relationship that means more to you than any other relationship.  It is based on love that drives you to keep going.

    To follow God you must have Him firmly settled into your heart.  When He is in your heart, He becomes a part of your daily life.  Taking the time to read your Bible or focus on prayer is done just so you may hear Him speak to you.  It is no longer a burden or something that you have to fit into your day.  It is habit, but not in the brushing your teeth.  It is a habit that brings life into your soul and meaning to a mundane life.  

    Following God is living a life pursuing righteousness.  It is choosing honesty and integrity over safety and popularity.  It is risky at times.  How you chose to he honest matters too.  You don't need to use the truth as a weapon.  When giving a hard truth, be gentle.

    Following God is choosing not to slander others, shame people, or belittle anyone.  This is where the golden rule can be tweaked a little.  Treat others how you want God to treat you.  It is standing firm on your foundation in Him and boundaries set for a balanced life.  It should never be at the expense of other people.  

    Choose to follow God and it gives you access to Him.  It is a life of trying to live pure and morally righteous, but knowing where to go when you mess up.  It is a lifestyle that fights for innocence.
