Commitment

Commitment is dedicating yourself to a cause or activity. It is an obligation that can be restrictive. A good example is marriage.  It is a life long commitment to stick your life out with your spouse without giving up.  It can be restrictive because it means giving up other romantic relationships.  It means making unilateral decisions have ended.  It becomes a partnership and selfishness has to walk out the door.
Similar to marriage is the commitment that a Christian makes to God.  He has a way that stir the heart unlike anyone ever could.  It can be in the good times and the bad times.  The time you spend with God should be cherished.
God anoints His people for various things, but we all are anointed to use our lips to speak truth, humility, and righteousness.  The lips are a powerful weapon that can pierce the heart with justice, so that we will seek righteousness.  Righteousness identifies wickedness and commits us to fight against it.
The commitment to God gives the heart the joy of companionship that has us forsake the worldly ways to seek Him.  In reward there is an inner beauty that can make the most plain person look attractive.  To feel beautiful is a priceless gift that requires purity and humility.    It draws people toward them because they want to know why they are so passionate and what makes them stand out.
Being committed to God means to never be forgotten.  Your name will live forever.  You may not be popular right now, but you are loved and cherished.  You may not be rich, but you have treasure.

Psalm 45
