Hearing not Listening

 

    Sometimes we are guilty of hearing things, but not listening.  We can hear God's Word, but not let it touch our heart or influence our lives.  Gods Word holds power, but unless we listen we have no idea how it can be applied in life.

    We don't get to chose to what we want to take from the Bible.  It all applies, even the parts that make us uncomfortable or angry.  It is God's love letter to us, even the instruction part.  He gives it to us so that we will treat each other and ourselves the way that will make us stronger and better people.

    God's Word is also a warning.  If you chose to go against His directions, then He has the power to crush nations, let alone individual people.  He wants to see us all flourish, but He can't let sin consume the world.  When you feel like you can't trust your own judgment, then the Bible is there to give you direction.

    Pride will be humbled.  Standards will be tested.  Life is never stagnant.  It is always moving and changing.  God is trying to keep us from living in shame or destroying our own lives.  When you are a Christian, then the Holy Spirit should be known in the soul. There He will speak.  It is your choice to listen.  

    Stop hearing how life should be.  Start to listen and find a steady heart.  Listen and learn His secrets to a vibrant life.   His love brings redemption.  Don't you want that?  Be patient, He will speak.  Don't be in such a rush that you miss it.
