We all need protection from time to time. We need protection from ourselves, life events, and other people. Prayer for protection is actively seeking God to put you in a state of being safe or immune. It can be a formal type of prayer or a spontaneous prayer that doesn't have to make sense to anyone other than yourself and God. The Holy Spirit will interpret the heart.
A prayer of protection is asking God for mercy. There are so many things in the world that are out of our control. It is overwhelming for some people. Prayer just makes it livable. It melts away the fears by trusting that God will take care of you. The more you trust God, the more you can let go of the incontrollable elements of this world.
God knows your specific anguish or pain. He cares and will handle your enemies in the best way. Your enemies are His creation too. He wants the best for them as much as He wants the best for you. He can see past the emotion and pain to the heart. However, there are times when enough is enough and God will allow justice in the most severe way. Use this as a humbling experience so that you will not be tempted to walk too far away from God's path for you.
Praise God's Name. Praise His Word. Vow yourself to Him like a bonded-servant. It might sound repressing, but in reality it brings you a closeness that your heart aches for. On top of that, you never have to doubt your path in this world. You can walk in the light in confidence.
