We are all searching for things in life: purpose, love, peace, and more. What so many of us do not realize is that we can find exactly what we are looking for in our relationship with God. Everything else is just over flow.
How do you find God? I think that experience may be a little different for everyone, but it comes down to the soul yearning for answers. You needing something enough to pursue finding God intentionally or not. You will find Him in His Word if you read it with an open heart and trusting mindset. You find Him in your prayer life. You can find in nature. You find God where you are willing to meet Him because He is always there. He is just waiting on you to let Him in.
Once you have salvation, the journey is just beginning. It is not over. You earnestly seek Him daily and your relationship will grow. Like any relationship it is not always easy or smooth sailing. We tend to loose our desire for Him over time. We have ebbs and flows of seeking and putting energy into the relationship.
When we come back in repentance, it is because we realize that we are the ones that pulled away. We realize that we walked away from God. We understand that it is God that satisfies the soul and nothing in this world can compare. We acknowledge that we walked away from what gave us peace, pleasure, and purpose to pursue selfish desires or self inflicted purpose. It comes down to the fact that our security and satisfaction in life is based in God and we don't have to understand every aspect.
