As we celebrate Jesus's Birthday, it is a good reminder that He is the one who really taught us how to apply wisdom to our lives. He changed everything by joining us on earth to show us how the Bible works in real life. It also reminds us that not everyone believes. Fools believe that they are wise and that they know everything in certain areas. The philosophy is how do we handle and identify what a fool considers wise. Solomon uses 28 proverbs here to help us identify the wisdom of a fool.
The fool spends all their energy on running from things that do not exist. They do a lot of things, but with no real productivity. They are always afraid of loosing what they have because they do not understand justice. The wise person understands where it all comes from and that gives them boldness to live their life to the fullest.
The fool rebels against authority. They forsake the laws or rules to get what they want. They do not understand justice and why it is in place. In doing so they disgrace their family. The wise understand that the authority is there to keep things maintained, balanced, and justified. It is better to be poor and upright, than rich and perverse.
The fool is unkind and gluttonous. Their prayers are detestable to God. They try to rule over the upright so that they too will do evil. If the upright fall, then it justifies what they are doing. All it does is cause them to fall into their own traps. The wise will use discernment to triumph because it reveals the sins that the fool is trying to hide.
We all have to pray repentance when we sin to find mercy. The fool does not fear God, so they will not repent. Instead they become hard and prey on those that they consider weak. They use their judgments as tyranny because they do not understand God's authority. God will protect the blameless and bless them for enduring.
The fool is greedy and lives in a fantasy world. They will stir up dissension to try to make themselves look good because they are impatient. They only trust themselves. The wise will work hard without cheating, lying, or bias. This protects them and keeps them safe when the fool comes after them. The fool will eventually kill all their prospects while the wise thrive. If you are uncertain about someone, then be patient because time reveals a person as a fool or wise.
