A prophet does not have an easy life. They live as outcast or considered odd. They never really fit in. It can be quite lonely. People often think that the leaders or heroes in the Bible have these great lives. In reality, they live lives that most of us would never want. That is why they stand out.
Jeremiah was a prophet at one of the most unfortunate times to be a prophet. He spoke God's Word exactly as commanded by God and was hated by the people that should have supported him. He was seized and had to defend himself. He risked His life to be faithful to God, but God was always there for him.
Being a prophet is probably undesirable, but when God gives you something to say then you have to say it. You don't get to hold back or omit one word that He gives you. You never know which word will connect to someone. Our messages are rarely for ourselves. The purpose is to give someone a chance to connect with God. Hopefully it will convict someone to turn from their sinful ways. You have to speak even if it doesn't go the way you would like it to go.
The prophet's job is to call people to obey God's laws, align the sin of the time, and express the seriousness of that sin. If you do not obey through compliance and honesty, then you will face the consequences. Once you do as God says, then you can release it. You did your part. If whomever God is speaking to ignores the message then their eternal death is on them, not you.
There are power in words, especially God's words. Look at Jesus. He made a lot of people angry, but they were never able to touch Him until He allowed it. Jeremiah lived to see his words come to life. Uriah , another prophet, was sentenced to death for his words.
Encourage people to reform from their sinful habits and addictions. It is not easy. They have to put in a lot of hard work and not everyone will do that. Some people will get angry because you speak against what is acceptable in the world. If they try to kill you, then they will have innocent blood on their hands. Death is inevitable. It is how you live your life that matters.
